I
visually inspect each album and use the following grading
system. While I haven't had time to play
every album before grading, if you are interested in
an album and would like me to test-play it to validate
the grade, just ask and I'll be happy to do it.
ALBUM
GRADING
SS
(STILL SEALED) = Album has never been opened or
played
M
(MINT)
= Looks unused
NM (NEAR
MINT) = Just short of mint, virtually no marks
EX
(EXCELLENT) = Shows light use, may have a couple
light scuffs that shouldn't be noticeable when
played
VG (VERY
GOOD) = Shows normal use (not abuse), may have moderate
scuffs and scratches that cause some mild surface
noise, but not so bad that it keeps you from enjoying
the album
G
(GOOD) = Not good - the record
is pretty much worn out but may still be playable. Unless very
rare, I won't sell an album in this grade.
NOTE:
There
are degrees between the above grades which require the use
of +
and - signs to indicate that the grade is, in my opinion,
slightly
higher or slightly lower, but not quite to the next
full grade level.

ALBUM
COVER GRADING
SS
(STILL SEALED) = Cover has never been opened
M
(MINT)
= Looks like new and perfect
NM (NEAR
MINT) = Just short of mint, minor signs of handling
EX
(EXCELLENT) = Shows minimal handling, no splits
in seams or other aesthetic problems, may have some
light wear on edges and corners and may have light ringwear
from the album
VG (VERY
GOOD) = Shows normal handling (not abuse), may have
small to medium split seams or clear tape repairs, may
have scuffs and minor creases, may have moderate to
heavy ringwear, may have some writing, generally appealing
but obviously used
G
(GOOD) = Shows heavy use or possibly abuse, large
seam splits, lots of writing or graffiti, heavy ring
wear, and/or has other problems that make it aesthetically unpleasing
NOTE:
There
are degrees between the above grades which require the use
of +
and - signs to indicate that the grade is slightly
higher or slightly lower, but not quite to the next
full grade level.
